A) As a Scientific Research Organization

        The Institute is recognized by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research Govt. of India under the scheme of recognition

        of scientific and Industrial Organization (SIRO's).

B) Under section 35(1)(ii) of Income tax act 1961

The Institute has been approved by The Central Government for the purpose of clause (ii) of sub-section (1) of section 35 of the Income-tax Act, 1961 under the department of Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Direct Taxes.

 C) As a Ph. D Research Center

        The following Universities recognize the Institute as a “Research Center”, for conducting Ph.D. work in Applied Science.

1. Kolkata University, Kolkata.

2.   Sambalpur University, Orissa.

3.   Berhampur University, Orissa.

D) As a Training Center under TCS COLOMBO PLAN

DISIR has been empanelled as an Institute of repute and excellence for imparting training in the field of Refractory and Allied Technology under TCS of Colombo Plan of Govt. of India., Ministry of finance, Dept. of Economic Affairs.
